And while they were all principally designed from the same materials, they are each unique and still attract tourists from all over the world. Every vacationer should have these castles on their list of places to see. 1.Mont Saint-Michel Built on a pinnacle near Normandy, France, Mont Saint Michel is regarded as a historical architectural marvel. 2.Edinburgh Castle Edinburgh Castle, is a fortress situated high up on Castle Rock and commands the skyline of the capital city of Edinburgh. Throughout time, Edinburgh Castle has risen above sieges, invasions, government power struggles and murders. 3.Neuschwanstein Castle On a rocky hill above the town of Hohenschwangau in south western Bavaria, Germany, stands the 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace, known as Neuschwanstein Castle. Designed as a retreat for German composer, Richard Wagner, Ludwig II of Bavaria paid for the palace out of his private fortune and extensive credit. 4.Glamis Castle Glamis Castle is situated next to the district of Glamis in Angus, Scotland. The fortress belongs to the Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and is open to public visitation. There is apparently a great deal of paranormal activity here, more than any other palace in Scotland. 5. Windsor Castle Windsor Castle is the official home of the royal British family in Berkshire, and is adorned with a sculpture of Queen Victoria and holiday-makers from all over the world visiting everyday. At 900 years old, Britain's Windsor Castle is the biggest active palace and oldest regal home ever. 6.Château de Chambord The castle of Chambord in France is the biggest of the Loire chateaus. It was constructed between 1519 and 1547 neighboring the river Cosson, a tributary river of Beuvron and it flows into the Loire. In 1981, UNESCO deemed it a World Heritage site. 7. Hampton Court Palace Utilized as one of his principle homes, Hampton Court Palace, in Herefordshsire, England, was made well-known by Henry VIII in the sixteenth century. These days, visitors can explore the breathtaking gardens and take in the pleasant weather. 8. Prague Castle Back when it was constructed, Prague Castle served as a political and spiritual foundation for a country looking to unite. 9.St. Michael's Website Mount St. Michaels Mount, is located in Cornwall, England, and is a historic palace presently bought by the National Trust. The sole way to access it is during low tide and by traversing the causeway. 10. Leeds Castle Designed in the sixteenth century, Leeds Castle was commissioned by Henry VIII as a home for his 1st wife, Catherine of Aragon.
